General Information

Frances has had a long career as a practitioner-academic,  and has been a mediator since 2000 when she gained the University of Notre Dame Certificate in ADR following a training course with ADR Chambers UK, then a subsidiary of the Canadian ADR Chambers Inc Group in Toronto, from which she absorbed the Canadian 'can do' attitude to resolving disputes outside court which has now demonstrated such a high success rate.

She is now a Retired Judge of HM Courts and Tribunals Service and a Retired Barrister concentrating on Dispute Resolution, whether as a Mediator, Family Arbitrator or as an Academic, having also  been teaching Dispute Resolution recently on an LLM in International Commercial Law for Buckinghamshire New University and training mediators for Align Mediation, a small panel in the Cotswolds, but is now exclusive to Clerksroom

She has a wealth of experience which can be brought to bear on resolving disputes in a variety of contexts, having previously been a Judge of the Administrative Appeals Chamber of the Upper Tribunal of the Tribunals Service 2009-2011, a Judge of the Consumer Credit Tribunal 2010-2011, a Judicial Member of the Transport Trbunal 2002-2009, and a Legal Chairman of the Residential Property Tribunal Service, 1996-2011,  where she also  regularly mediated in residential property disputes for the RPTS Panel

Frances is a mediator who is happy to tackle the resolution of any dispute which the parties want to settle but particularly  mediates in the following specialist areas:

* English and International Family Property (French and Spanish spoken)

* Inheritance disputes

* Financial and Property disputes, including Financial Provision on Divorce, Nullity or Dissolution of

  Civil Partnership or  Cohabitation Claims on Relationship Breakdown

* Family Business Disputes

* Landlord & Tenant  and Housing

* Service Charge, Property Management, Lease Extension and Enfranchisement disputes

* Employment Law, especially Discrimination Against Women

* Further and HIgher Education disputes

* Low value disputes where litigation costs would be disproportionate
