Profile
A civil barrister and former solicitor-advocate with 30 years of litigation experience, Alistair Pye is a talented and committed advocate, advisor and mediator (see Alistair’s mediation profile here).
Alistair qualified as a solicitor, then later as a solicitor-advocate, a mediator and construction adjudicator. He spent most of his career at DAC Beachcroft’s legacy firms, initially in broad commercial litigation and then focusing exclusively on construction and insurance disputes, where he undertook much of his own advocacy. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Accredited to accept instructions on a public access basis, Alistair's practice is nationwide and covers fast and multi-track, arbitration and construction adjudication, as well as injunctions and interim applications. He is also happy to help if you need a skilled advocate to fight your small claim dispute.
Alistair is well known and popular for his relaxed, approachable manner as well as his first-rate analytical mind honed over 30 years as a litigation lawyer at the highest levels. These attributes, combined with meticulous preparation and determination, have brought him considerable success across all types of civil disputes, from modest boundary cases to complex, high-value commercial matters.

SERVICES:
Please see “profile” tab for description of the legal services provided by this barrister.
We aim to complete and return all paperwork within 14 days (2 weeks) of receipt if no specific deadline is provided. We can work to much faster timescales if requested or we can agree a specific target date for each individual circumstance. We will always advise at the outset if counsel is unable to meet any deadline.
Each barrister has a standard hourly rate for their work. The individual hourly rate can be agreed when instructions are acknowledged if preferred. We welcome early discussion as to the suitability of a specific barrister for a specific case. The right barrister will have the relevant expertise to deal with the case but will not be too junior, or too senior depending on the complexities.
We aim to allocate all cases to the correct level of experience & seniority which we believe will prove most to be the most cost effective solution for our clients.
If, due to urgency, we allocate paperwork to a more senior member of Clerksroom, we will charge the appropriate hourly rate for the work, not for the barrister. We welcome early discussion to ensure the correct fee is applied to the case at the outset.
REDRESS:

Barrister Observing a mediation, December 2015Alistair Pye is a very skilled operator. I was seriously impressed with his style. Whilst he was sympathetic to the participants, he was not prepared to put up with prevarication and posturing. Because of his personality, he was able to inculcate a sense of realism amongst the participants and, as a result, was able to drive forward a settlement to a problem that appeared, on more than one occasion, intractable. All in all, a privilege to watch.
Partner Regional firm, September 2015Alistair [Pye] had an excellent approach towards my client and spoke persuasively and straightforwardly... We would certainly use him again.
