General Information

Theo Pangraz is a dual qualified Senior Barrister, German Advocate (Rechtsanwalt) and Mediator providing specialist Commercial, Corporate and Construction Law related advice, drafting, advocacy, representation, mediation and quasi in-house consultancy services to law firms, businesses and individuals across England, Wales and Germany.

With more than 27 years’ cross-jurisdictional legal experience, having spent 15 years in-house as General Counsel, Head of Legal and Managing Director of an international company in the global petrochemical industry, I have extensive practical experience of the mechanics of business, the reality of commercial negotiations and the need to expertly use the law to identify and minimise risk wherever possible. Therefore, if you are looking for solutions-focused advice and representation that you can trust, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Who do I work with and how can I help you?

• Solicitors and Law Firms: Do you get enquiries that you don’t have the expertise, or time to deal with in-house? Rather than turning this work away, have you considered the benefits of engaging an experienced Barrister on a consultancy basis? Available as and when you need me, on either a formal or informal basis, my involvement can remain very much ‘behind the scenes’ or I can work as a fully integrated, specialist member of your firm.

• SMEs, Limited Companies and Partnerships: You don’t need to invest in a permanent, in-house legal department to receive cost-effective, bespoke, accessible legal advice whenever you need it. Ask me about the support that I can offer you on a retained or ad-hoc basis.

• Individuals: Engaged by board members, shareholders, directors and contractors (among others) on a direct access basis, I can provide the advice, drafting and representation you need at any stage of a dispute including mediation, adjudication and court proceedings.

Personal Website:

1. If you are a law firm or a solicitor who requires the outsourced expertise of a highly experienced, senior (bilingual) Barrister on an ad-hoc or longer-term consultancy basis, I can help.

The support that I can offer includes, but is not limited to:

• informal advice and guidance by email or telephone on the questions to ask, and the documents to request ahead of an initial consultation or conference with a client;
• drafting of commercial terms and conditions, construction contracts and share/asset purchase/sale/demerger/franchise agreements;
• undertaking legal due diligence prior to an acquisition;
• drafting mediation position statements, pleadings, witness statements and applications; or
• professional subject matter training for your wider team.

2. If you are an individual or owner/manager of a business that is considering mediation as a form of ADR, as a member of the Civil Mediation Council, I can assist in disputes involving, among others:

• shareholders and directors;
• alleged breaches of contract;
• landlords and tenants;
• property and land;
• building, construction and engineering;
• cross-border commercial and construction matters; and
• insolvency or bankruptcy.

3. If you are an individual or small to medium sized business in need of direct, effective legal advice, drafting of contracts or other legal documents, representation or advocacy, here is what others say:

“[Theo’s] attention to detail and excellent. Each client who has been represented by Theo has had nothing but positive comments to make.”

Fees and Feedback

Fees and Feedback

Details regarding our approach to fees can be found at the following link:

Please see “profile” tab for description of the legal services provided by this barrister.

We aim to complete and return all paperwork within 14 days (2 weeks) of receipt if no specific deadline is provided. We can work to much faster timescales if requested or we can agree a specific target date for each individual circumstance. We will always advise at the outset if counsel is unable to meet any deadline.

Each barrister has a standard hourly rate for their work. The individual hourly rate can be agreed when instructions are acknowledged if preferred. We welcome early discussion as to the suitability of a specific barrister for a specific case. The right barrister will have the relevant expertise to deal with the case but will not be too junior, or too senior depending on the complexities.

We aim to allocate all cases to the correct level of experience & seniority which we believe will prove most to be the most cost effective solution for our clients.

If, due to urgency, we allocate paperwork to a more senior member of Clerksroom, we will charge the appropriate hourly rate for the work, not for the barrister. We welcome early discussion to ensure the correct fee is applied to the case at the outset.

All our barristers are regulated by the Bar Standards Board (BSB) and hold a current practising certificate, details can be found at the following link Barristers’ Register
