General Information

Anne Shankland was called to the bar in 2001. Before moving to independent practice, she worked as an in-house counsel to the Turkish Consulate in London and as a private consultant.

Whilst working as in-house legal consultant to the Turkish Consulate General, Anna worked on more than a thousand different cases. These involved matters including contract, family, inquests, immigration, property, commercial law, FCA Consumer Credit Regulations and Consumer Credit Licensing. She also acted as a negotiator in the Joint Committee between the Home Office and the Turkish Government on the ECAA regulations relating to Turkish Citizens in Britain.

Anne is known for her empathy in dealing with clients, and for giving clear and helpful assessments as to the best way forward out of difficult situations. Her main interests lie with commercial disputes and family law. Outside these areas of law, Anne is always willing to consider any enquiry. Fluent in English and Turkish, she is happy to help in cross-border matters both as a consultant and as a counsel.
