As a mediator Matthew specialises in helping resolve disputes relating to land and property. Matthew has a record of unlocking difficult or complex disputes and finding innovative ways to help parties resolve their differences.

Prior to becoming a solicitor Matthew qualified as a software engineer specialising in large-scale database design, and remains a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

Matthew is particularly known as one of the leading experts in the UK on Party Walls and disputes arising out of basement extensions. He is the author of Practical Party Walls (2014) and The Law and Practice of Basement Extensions (2016).

Matthew can help resolve:

Property Disputes, including boundaries and party walls, easements and rights of way, restrictive covenants, trespass and nuisance.

Construction and Engineering Disputes, including heavy industry, breach of JCT and other contract schemes, breach of warranty claims and technical disputes

Matthew can travel throughout the UK and is happy to negotiate fees on a case-by-case basis.

 

Recent Mediations

Matthew's most recent appointment was in a dipute over damage caused by a basement extension in West London, which settled on the day.

Interests

Matthew is activly involved in his local rugby club as a player, referee and comittee member.
