Public Access Questions What do I do next?
Our Public Access (Direct Access) website is www.clerksroomdirect.com
It has been designed to allow you to create an account, submit an enquiry and obtain quotes from our extensive panel of over 1,000 barristers.
In order to quote a fee, the clerks will need to place your paperwork before a suitable barrister who has undertaken public access training. If you have a court date, please also advise us of that date at an early stage. The clerks will try and find a barrister who is available for the hearing date and also willing to accept the instructions on a public access basis.
Once the barrister has received the papers, they can speak to you about the case and confirm with you how to proceed, providing the matter is suitable for Public Access. If you wish to continue and you are happy with the fees quoted, a client care letter will be sent to you setting out the work that will be carried out for you and the fees quoted.
Payments are made in advance of any work being done so we will also confirm how the payment is to be made and when it will be required. If there is a court date or any work required, payment will be required in advance to retain the barrister for that work or date. In short, you need to:
- prepare your papers
- discuss your case with a public access barrister
- agree to the client care letter by signing and returning
- pay fees in advance
- provide any further documents as needed by the barrister
The barrister will give you their direct contact details including email and mobile phone number.
