As an RICS Accredited Surveyor Mediator Grant not only Mediates neighbour land property boundary disputes but can also provide a determined boundary survey to be registered with Land Registry. As a Surveyor Mediator he provides his clients with the complete service and confidence that their agreed land property boundaries are properly registered with Land Registry either by Deed of Boundary Agreement or under the Determined Boundary procedure. Grant is also a certified Party Wall Surveyor having gained his Certificate in Party Wall Studies from the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors.

Grant is a Fellow of both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and Remote Sensing and Photogrammetric Society and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is a member of:

This depth of background survey knowledge coupled with his wide range of land & property experience is more likely to allow you to achieve a rapid solution. This has the benefit of significant cost and time savings over the typical litigation approach to property dispute resolution.

His previous work experience includes:

  • Land Registrar (British Overseas Territory);
  • National Land Adjudication & Boundary dispute resolution;
  • Government Chief Surveyor of Montserrat and Cayman Islands;
  • Licensed land cadastral surveyor, LLS;
  • Government Director of Land & Survey;
  • Ordnance Survey Expert Witness; and
  • International Expert Witness (land, mapping & Intellectual Property Rights - IPR).

Although practising in property dispute resolution for many years, in 2008 as part of the first RICS cohort of accredited mediator surveyors, he became the first Chartered Land Surveyor to qualify as an 'RICS Accredited Mediator'. His career achievements have enabled him to be recognised as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

As Registrar of Lands, Grant was regularly required to adjudicate on complex land and property boundary issues. Statutory hearings were a routine part of the work whilst, sessions in Court to give expert evidence took place worldwide from the High Courts of Justice, London & Manchester, Montserrat, and the Cayman Islands to the High Court in Singapore.

Whilst at Ordnance Survey, Grant established their Expert Witness Group, which provided land & property boundary surveys and professional advice in neighbourhood land & property boundary disputes, as featured in the Neighbours at War television series. He represented Ordnance Survey on many occasions regarding land property disputes varying from small back garden garage disputes settled in the County Court through to major High Court cases in London & Singapore.

Thankfully many disputes were settled prior to litigation due to the quality of advice given to clients and constructive mediation processes.

Grant is also a Certified Project Manager who has been involved in numerous multi-million pound projects relating to land and property. Working with the Department for International Development (DFID) he utilised property management, land survey, mapping and IT skills to implement complex projects on budget and on time.

His extensive and varied work experience enables him to identify key issues and to resolve them in a structured and timely manner to the considerable cost & time benefit of his clients.
