General Information

Richard read English before becoming a barrister and now practises at the Chancery Bar, specialising mainly in business and commercial disputes, where he has built a reputation for being user-friendly and approachable.  He is an experienced litigator and appears in courts at all levels (House of Lords three times and the Court of Appeal on numerous occasions but is no stranger to the County Court).   Richard’s practice involves both domestic and overseas work, particularly in the BVI (where he has been called to the Bar), Cayman (where he had been called to the Bar ad hoc) and the Isle of Man.

Richard is Standing Counsel to BIS (formerly the DTI) in insolvency matters and is used to dealing with highly confidential matters, sometimes concerning general policy and sometimes extremely politically sensitive.
