General Information
He obtained a first in the law tripos at Cambridge, subsequently gaining a further first in the Cambridge LLB course, which introduced him to EC law.
With the United Kingdom's accession to the Community then imminent, he continued his study of EC law at Brussels University, attaining a Grande Distinction at the conclusion of the year's course. He remains fluent in French.
His practice has developed to cover a wide area of general chancery litigation, with a particular specialisation in:
· intellectual property
· media and entertainment disputes
· EC law
· property law
He is recommended in Chambers for Media and Entertainment as "a great authority on the copyright side" and features in the Legal 500 as a leading silk in Intellectual Property.
He has been a co-editor of the last three editions of the leading textbook on copyright, Copinger and Skone James on Copyright, (Sweet & Maxwell, 1980, 1991 and 1999). He has also been joint consulting editor of the Entertainment volume in Butterworths' Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents, 4th edition, 1989. He sits on the editorial board of Entertainment Law Review. He regularly gives talks on intellectual property issues.
