Practice Group
Public Access Accredited Barristers
The Public Access Scheme for civil claims was initially introduced in 2004 and its ambit widened in 2010 to include family. Public Access trained barristers are able to represent their clients in all courts and tribunals in England and Wales; to advise and draft documentation in both contentious and non contentious matters and carry out correspondence for their clients.
The savings for the client in instructing counsel directly are enormous and for many the experience has made them feel that they have kept control of their own case rather than hand it over completely.
Solicitors have also found the public access scheme helpful by passing onto counsel cases which are not cost effective to handle themselves. This ensures excellent client goodwill for the solicitor and financial savings for the client.
The qualified Public Access Barristers at Clerksroom have a wide range of expertise. It is headed by one of the founders of the Public Access Bar Association. Since the scheme started members of the Group have taken several reported cases to the Court of Appeal and the High Court.
Fees are agreed & confirmed in writing in advance of any work being undertaken. A client care letter is sent for signature so everyone knows where they stand before any fee is incurred. Payment is made in advance by credit card, cash or cheque. If you would like to discuss a potential matter with us, please call the clerks on 0845 083 3000 to discuss suitability.
