How we agree fees

Fees Policy:

Where possible, we will quote a fixed fee. If it is not possible to quote a fixed fee, our Barristers will review the work and provide a quotation setting out the hourly rate they wish to apply and the length of time the work is likely to take. The fee quoted will simply be the proposed hourly rate by the time required. It is that simple. You will always be asked to agree the fee before any work is undertaken. Please see link for our full fees policy.

CPR fees:

Where CPR fees apply, such as fast track hearings and stage 3 hearings, the appropriate CPR fee will be confirmed to you at the time of booking and then by email in writing.

Fixed Fees, Block Contracts, Discounts:

We will take a commercial view of anything being asked of us. We have clear rules set down in the Bar Standards Board code of conduct as to what we can and cannot do. We are always willing to discuss appropriate fees for bulk work or specific circumstances. We always enjoy hearing about new and innovative ideas.

Travel Expenses, Travel Time & Accommodation:

Where possible, we aim to avoid charging for travel time, travel expenses and overnight accommodation. We are able to do this and gain a competitive advantage as our Barristers are located throughout England & Wales. We do not charge travel for small claims, low value disputes, fast track at all levels. We may charge travel time, cost and accommodation for hearings that last multiple days, multi-track claims and tribunal hearings over 1 day.

"Rough with the smooth" Approach:

When Clerksroom was launched in 2001, we were the only Chambers in England & Wales to offer a truly national service for all courts and tribunals for civil work. We remain the only chambers willing to offer the service coupled to the zero expenses policy for small and fast track claims. We adopted the "rough with the smooth" approach in 2001 and it has remained a cornerstone to the ethos behind our service.
